Welcome to Palmerston North Girls’ High School and thank you for considering us as a school for your young person.

We provide an outstanding education for young women from Palmerston North, the wider Manawatū region and  a range of overseas countries. We have a very strong record in NCEA attainment and UE along with many high performing, prominent alumni.

We are also focused on being innovative and responsive to the changing world our young people are moving into, through offering strong pathways to a broad range of high value opportunities and destinations to the world of work.

We provide a wide curriculum that includes a full range of subjects at all levels with an expectation that students will also be involved in extracurricular sporting, artistic and/or cultural activities. We provide a myriad of extension groups and social and ‘real world’ learning opportunities for our students. We also provide learning support based on individual needs. Students at all levels are encouraged to take up leadership roles. These opportunities help them develop greater self-confidence and become healthy risk takers within our supportive environment.

We are very focused on knowing our learners and working alongside them to enable them to flourish. Our values are based on developing young people who are respectful, socially responsible and resilient - whakaute, whakatangata, whakamana. Our teachers are hardworking and passionate and we have been on a journey - which continues - of developing a learning community based on culturally responsive and relational kaupapa and philosophy.

We invite you to visit our school and consider how we may form a learning partnership to achieve the best outcomes for your young person’s future.

Mā tou rourou mā taku rourou ka puawai te kura. With your contribution and my contribution the school will flourish.

HEAD GIRL'S WELCOME

“Ekva Nagee Sitimu” - “Together, let’s rise”

Ayubowan. I am Sajani Dissanayake, honoured to serve as Head Girl of Palmerston North Girls’ High School for 2026.

“Semper Sursum,” sets our direction. For our students, it is a call to climb higher with purpose and to take others with us. To stand here is to stand on the shoulders of extraordinary women. Leaders, innovators and changemakers. Their legacy reminds us to carry the flame of school pride higher.

Our education is both a privilege and a pathway. Our students prove that when dedication meets opportunity, there is no limit to what can be achieved. Within these gates, we discover who we are. Beyond them, we show the world what it means to be from PNGHS: bold in ambition, grounded in values, and proud of the cultures and stories that shape us.

A school grows through kindness, strengthens through respect, and flourishes through service. This year, that choice remains ours.

In 2026, we aim high, give our best, and stand together in pride. May we leave these gates with hearts full of aroha and a kete overflowing with knowledge.
I cannot wait to see the heights we will reach, together.

Semper Sursum.
