Over the past few weeks the Communities Council ran a charity fundraiser for the Butterfly Compassion Community.
This amazing, no questions asked locally run charity supports people in need within our community by making up boxes of items that will directly support the individual or whānau. This charity helps people who be facing temporary and more longterm challenges. Items for the box ups are all donated.
Our PNGHS fundraiser focused on two events: a lunchtime bake sale, which made $500 and an inter-house charity box donation challenge, where students donated items themed around our wāhine helping other wāhine and whānau in our community.
Last week, members of the Communities Council took our boxes down to BCC. The charity was overwhelmed by the generosity of our PNGHS students, staff and whānau, and were very excited to recieve the toiletries, period products, and other items that will go straight into the box-ups. Our council was very impressed to visit BCC, and learn the innovative ways they support support a huge (and growing) need in our community.
If any of our PNGHS whānau are interested in continuing to support BCC, this can be done by donating items and volunteering service. If whānau would like more information about box-ups or about the charity shop which sells a range of amazing items at very good prices, feel free to contact BCC for more information.
