Congratulations to the PNGHS 1st XI Cricket team who competed in the 2025 NZSS 1st XI Girls Cricket Cup in Lincoln, Christchurch 11 - 14 December.

The team finished at the top of the table following their round robin games with wins against Takapuna Grammar, Tawa College, Otumoetai College, St Andrew's College and Otago Girls' High School.  

In the final PNGHS won the toss and elected to field against a strong St Margaret batting order. Committed work in the field by PNGHS had St Margaret’s finishing with 135/7 with solid bowling displays by Ella James (2/18) and Aria Kearney (2/16).

A strong innings by PNGHS with the bat, and a committed effort between the wickets by Zara Thompson (49 not out) saw PNGHS win by 7 wickets with 4 balls remaining. An outstanding performance by the team and a victory to be hugely proud of! Thank you to the coaching team of James Lovegrove and Robbie James and a huge thanks to all the families who travelled south to support the team, with every player having family member/s on the sideline to support the team.

Congratulations to Zara Thompson who was named as the PNGHS MVP and also to the whole team for being awarded the Team Spirit award.
