Showquest TOI Wearable Arts

We recently had a group of PNGHS students compete at the regional Showquest TOI Wearable Arts competition.

Students opt into this as an extracurricular activity and we have had 30 students working on their creations since last term. The day started with a professional photoshoot, judging with the mentors from WOW, stage rehearsal and then finishing with the show in the evening.  There were 34 senior entries in total and 12 from PNGHS. We had some amazing success with the awards and the following students were recognised with their entries:

La Mariposa designed by Eva Jauregui and Heesu Kim gained awards for Excellent garment construction, Creative Concept, Innovative Use of Materials and Outstanding Stage Presence.

Dear Earth designed by Shuhan Cao, Katie Harrowfield and Lori Boghossian won an award for Creative Concept.

Deja vu Deja ressenti Deja entendu designed by Olivia Calder - Kerr won an award for Powerful storytelling.

Retaining Colour designed by Liwan Zhou Griffin, Josephine Hayton and Lylah Timutimu won an award for Powerful storytelling and Excellent garment construction.

Petal Perfection designed by Pearl Funnell won an award for Excellent garment construction, Innovative Use of Materials, Creative Concept and Outstanding Stage Presence.

Canvas and Couture designed by Shian Millward, Kaitlyn Crafts  and Alexa Garnevska-Keall won awards for Excellent garment construction, Powerful storytelling, Creative Concept, Innovative Use of Materials and Outstanding Stage Presence. This group also won the senior Star of the Night award across all garments.

Well done to everyone who worked so hard and put in many many hours designing and constructing your wearable art creations!
