Netball Club - May Report
Congratulations to the Senior A team for a very successful pre-season tournament held on Saturday 24 April. This was their first fundraiser for the year to assist with the costs associated with attending Lower North Island Secondary School Tournament.
Thank you to all the teams who entered the event and we know that it would have been very beneficial with the season commencing next weekend. There were some excellent, closely contested games.
Congratulations to the Grade winners - Junior B and 9A1 while 12A1 came second on a count back of points.
With the Secondary School Grade about to commence, we would like to acknowledge all the volunteers who have offered to coach or manage a team. We really appreciate your giving up your spare time and would hope that all of our parents and supporters on the sideline will support you in an extremely positive manner.
Three of our coaches attended a coaching course held by Netball Manawatu. We would like to assist with coach development this season so would encourage as many of you as possible to take up training opportunities. Please speak to Mrs Gibbs if you would like any assistance.
Jessica Clarke has been selected in the Aotearoa Maori Netball Secondary School Team to compete in the 2010 International Schoolgirls Tournament in Adelaide, 24- 28 May. A wonderful achievement and we wish Jess all the best at this tournament. Our congratulations go to Te Hapai Selby-Law who was also selected to trial.
Anderley Gordon and Jessica Clarke attended the New Zealand Secondary School Camp in Christchurch while Paula Radich was selected to attend the same camp as an umpire. Paula was appointed to the New Zealand Under 19 Umpiring Squad. Congratulations to our high flyers!
