Gabrielle Kelly (Y11) has been selected for the New Zealand Koru U17 team and will travel with them to Australia in January for a summer tournament.
Soccer
After an impressive display at the New Zealand Football talent on location day, Ruby Tufuga (Y10) has been selected to attend the upcoming NZF National Talent Centre programme (NTC). It will take place in Wellington 4-8 October.
Karate
Chantelle Rossouw (Y10) placed 3rd in the girls 14/15 years Kumite at the Central North Island Karate Championships held in Hamilton on 26 June.
After being assessed by a panel of Umpires, Paula Radich (Y13) achieved the prestigious New Zealand Umpiring Badge. This feat is especially impressive considering her age.
Squash
In the Manawatu Secondary Schools' Squash Competition the Orange Squash team of Danielle Fourie (Y13), Rebecca Clifford (Y13) and Brooke Dexter (Y13) finished 2nd behind the top team from Palmerston North Boy's High School after playing in the top Boys' Division.
The 2010 Netball Manawatu Secondary Schools competition culminated with finals weekend on Saturday 21st August, at Vautier Park and Grand Finals at the B&M Arena on Tuesday 24th.
The school will be welcoming teams from New Plymouth Girls' High School for the annual winter sports exchange on Thursday 19 August. Teams involved: Senior A1, A2 and Junior A Netball, Premier A Basketball, 1st X1 Hockey, 1st X1 Football and Cross Country. Junior A and B Netball teams are competing in the Western Junior Tournament from 7-8 August in New Plymouth.
Netball Umpires
Katherine Neilson (Y11), Georgia Buchanan (Y9) and Emma Johanson (Y9) have achieved their Centre Umpiring Badge. After being assessed according to performance whilst umpiring at the New Zealand U17 Netball tournament, Paula Radich (Y13) was chosen to umpire the 5th and 6th play off on the final day.
Lawn Bowls
Lauren Robertson (Y12), Lucy Whitlock (Y12) and Caitlin Thomson (Y11) competed as part of a mixed team of students from Manawatu Schools in the Secondary Schools' Regional in Hastings. Caitlin and Lucy are two of five students who have qualified to represent Manawatu at the Secondary School Lawn Bowls Nationals which are taking place from 12-14 December in Dunedin.
NPGHS Sports Exchange
On 19 August, Palmerston North Girls' High School visited New Plymouth Girls' High School for the Winter Sports Exchange.
The team of Elizabeth Horne (Y13), Caitlin Pemberton (Y13) and Catherine McManus (Y13) achieved 2nd place at the Havelock North Show Jumping event on 2 August.
Inline Hockey
Kendra Waldman (Y10) has been selected for the Lower North Island Junior Western Inter-regional representative team. She will play at the inter-regional competition to be held in New Plymouth 22-25 October.
Netball
Te Hapai Selby-Law (Y12) was selected by the New Zealand Association for Gifted Children (NZAGC) as an Under 17 Netball Player with potential. The Junior A and B Netball teams competed at the Junior Western Tournament in New Plymouth 6-8 August. The A team finished 3rd and the B team finished 5th. At the end of the tournament, Tessa-Layne Marsh (Y9) and Jessica Searle (Y9) were named in the Tournament Team. The Secondary Schools' league finished with Finals Weekend on Saturday 21 August and the Grand Finals at the B&M Arena on Tuesday 24 August. Congratulations to the winning teams.
Smallbore Rifle Target Shooting
Anne-Marie Shaw (Y12) placed 1st with the top score of 199.10 in the Collinson Trophy held in Palmerston North on 31 July. Anne-Marie also achieved 2nd place in the Manawatu Open Championships on 24 July.
Water Polo
Emily Boyle (Y11) has been selected to play for the Hutt Women's U18 Squad at the National Championships being held in Auckland 25-28 September.
Congratulations to our Squash Team on becoming National Champions
Tayla East (Y10) competed in the South Island Trampoline Championships in Christchurch during the holidays. She finished 4th in the Double Mini Trampoline and 5th in the Trampoline competitions. She will now go on to represent the school at the Gym Sport Nationals during September.
Netball
Jessica Clarke (Y13) was named in the Tournament Team after the U17 Nationals held in Papakura during the school holidays.
Equestrian
Marjorie Bentley-Brett (Y10) has been selected for the Dressage NZ Newcomer Training Squad for 2010.
