Sophie Zhang

sophie_zhangSophie Zhang (04-08) our 2008 School Dux and top academic student has been selected from 216,000 applicants to attend Columbia University in New York City, USA.  Sophie was awarded a John Jay Scholarship that will fund her tuition, living and travel costs for the duration of her four year degree.  She intends to include Physics and Maths papers in her course.  Sophie was also accepted at MIT, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, but has chosen Columbia because the programme promotes a broad and balanced curriculum for undergraduates.
This is an outstanding achievement by a student who took up every extension opportunity including: debating, the Model United Nations, University courses in Maths, an International Physics camp, Realise the Dream and Gold CREST.  Sophie will soon sit her oral examination for her Gold CREST (Creativity in Science and Technology) research, followed by a seminar. Details are yet to be finalised.
