Year 13 Economics is based on Level Four of the National Economics Form 3 to 7 syllabus and Level 3 of NCEA Achievement Standards. Economics is a study of how people as individuals and groups choose to satisfy their wants, by allocating and managing scarce resources. Economics programmes in this schools aim to
- enable all students to take an effective part in economic activity and contribute to future economic well-being
- assist students to understand that individuals, groups, communities and countries make decisions about the use of scarce resources
At Year 13 level these are achieved by a course which is predominantly analytical in nature and introduces a range of micro-economic and macro-economic theory. Students will be given the opportunity to attain a level of economic literacy and understanding which will enable them to develop a continuing interest in contemporary economic issues.
Students will also be encouraged to develop their skills of reasoning by using analytical techniques to present and interpret economic data and arguments in a clear and coherent manner.
We offer 24 credits, 5 of which are attached to the Internal Assessment. |
