Summer Sports

Summer Sports at Palmerston North Girls' High School.

  • Aerobics has over 22 girls registered to attend the weekly Thursday workout, which takes place at Massey University.  

  • Archery has 23 players registered for training's on Saturdays at the Rifle Rod and Gun Club.

  • Canoe Polo has 3 teams who compete every Tuesday at the Freyberg High School Swimming Pool.

  • Athletics has 20 students registered for lunchtime training sessions run at school. There are various competitions throughout the term including the Manawatu Inter Secondary School Athletics Competition.

Gymnastics Team



  • Cricket has two teams. The 1st X1 Team compete on Saturdays at various locations and they also compete in the Twenty20 version of the game every Tuesday at Hokowhitu Park.  The 2nd X1 will also be training and competing every Thursday at Coronation Park.
  • Croquet has 9 players who play in teams every Tuesday at the Rose Garden Croquet Club at the Esplanade.
  • Cycling has 11 members who train and compete throughout the year.

  • Golf has a team of 3 players who compete every Monday at the Palmerston North Golf Club.

  • Lawn Bowls has 9 players who will train and compete every Thursday at the Hokowhitu Bowling Club.

  • Tennis has 55 players who take part in training's at school and weekly competitions.
    The Senior A team competed in the National Secondary School competition and finished 7th.

  • Touch has 13 members this term competing at Coronation Park every Tuesday.

  • Volleyball has 5 Teams this term with two new coaches. They compete every Monday at the Manawatu Arena.
  • Waterpolo has 2 teams of students. Competition starts shortly at Palmertson North Boys High School on Tuesdays.
  • Yoga has over 80 students registered to train every Wednesday Lunchtime at school.
