Winter Sports

Winter Sports are now underway at Palmerston North Girls' High School.

Artistic Roller Skating has 4 students attending weekly training sessions led by three student coaches with experience of skating in National Teams.

Badminton has 15 teams who compete weekly on Mondays at the B&M Arena in the Manawatu Secondary School competition.

Basketball has 3 teams competing at Arena Manawatu every Friday in the Manawatu Secondary School Leagues. The Premier A team compete in the Division 1 Womens competition.

Canoe Polo has 3 teams who compete on Tuesdays at the Freyberg High School Swimming Pool.

Cheerleading has 45 registered members who form the Cheerleading Team and the Development Squad. Practices are Wednesdays after school and during Thursday lunchtimes.

Cycling Team

Cross Country had a squad of 20 students who competed in the Manawatu Inter Secondary School Championships.

Cycling has 11 members who train on Sunday mornings, building up to future competitions.

Football has 3 teams this year. With training's taking place during the week, matches occur on Wednesday for all teams and the 1st X1 football team also plays in the Womens competition on Sundays.

Hockey

Hockey has 5 teams this term, with 4 teams competing in the Manawatu Secondary School Hockey Competition. The 1st X1 Hockey team participate in the Manawatu Women's competition in preparation for the Marie Fry Cup.

Indoor Netball has one team competing every Friday at the Indoor Sports Arena on Church Street.

Indoor Soccer has 2 teams competing every Thursday at the Indoor Sports Arena on Church Street.

Badminton

 

Netball has 28 teams this year all competing on Saturday's in the Manawatu Secondary School Netball Competition at Vautier Park. There are also 28 student coaches assisting in coaching all of our teams. The Senior A1 Netball Team also compete in the Premier 1 Netball League held on Tuesday Evenings at Arena Manawatu.

Netball Umpiring has 35 girls in the squad. The squad has weekly practical and theory sessions and help officiate all of the PNGHS netball teams on Saturdays at Vautier Park.

Rugby currently has one competitive team.

Smallbore Rifle Shooting has a squad of 14 students, training takes place on Tuesday Evenings.

Squash has 7 teams competing in the Manawatu Secondary School League held at the Squash Gym Centre every Wednesday.

Table Tennis has 10 girls registered in 3 teams competing in a weekly Thursday Secondary School competition at the Waldegrave  Lounge.
