Digital Technologies Department

Within our courses you will use digital resources to effectively find, analyse, create, communicate, and use information. This incorporates the use of web 2.0 tools, digital media tools, programming tools and a variety of software applications.

Globalisation and technological change are two key features that are shifting and shaping our lives. To participate in a future knowledge society students will need to be able to adapt to change, research, experiment, think critically, work creatively, plan, self-assess, use feedback, as well as project management tools to enable them to communicate ideas in a creative and analytical way. The development of these skills will allow students to identify a range of possible pathways which will lead to ICT related careers and/or further study opportunities.

Year 9 Digital Technologies

This introductory course to Digital Technologies will provide students with the opportunity to become digitally literate, and give a good foundation in using the computer and a range of programs. They will also gain valuable life skills needed in today’s digital society.

Year 10 Digital Technologies

This course aims to develop in students a broad ICT literacy by teaching a wide variety of computer skills and problem-solving activities. Course content includes Information Management, Digital Media and Computer Science topics.

Year 11 Digital Technologies

This course introduces students to a wide range of skills and programs including digital web media, programming and computer science, and information management. Skills can be used across the curriculum and open the doors to a wide range of interests and occupations.

Year 12 Digital Technologies Media

Students will enjoy this course if they like to learn how to create their own web and print media, and learn new computer programs. They are taught how to critically evaluate their own and others’ creative digital work, manage databases and connect them to other programs.

Year 12 Computer Science

This course is aimed at students who have an interest in Computer Programming and web development. It will prepare them for tertiary studies and a career in the IT Industry as they will gain knowledge and skills that are transferable to any programming environment.

Year 13 Digital Technologies Media

Students will enjoy this course if they like to produce their own digital media technology project, specialising in web, print or graphical media. Also in the course is managing relational databases and connecting them to other programs, along with critiquing professional media design.

Year 13 Computer Science

This course is aimed at students who have a keen interest in Programming, Computer Science and Software Engineering. They will gain knowledge and skills that are transferable to any programming environment and will prepare them for tertiary studies and a career in the IT Industry.
