Te Reo Maori

Palmerston North Girls High School and the whānau are committed towards enhancing the achievements of our Māori students and students of the wider community of our college studying Te Reo Māori through spiritual, cultural and academia successes.

Year 9 students will study, use and enjoy a course of Te Reo Māori. This course focuses on students developing their skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Te Reo Māori to communicate and enhance student’s knowledge and achievements. NCEA Level: 1 is offered with prerequisite requirements.

Year 10 students will study, use and enjoy a course of Te Reo Māori. This course focuses on students extending their skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Te Reo Māori to communicate and enhance student’s achievements.
NCEA Level: 2 is offered to students who have already gained Level 1 TRM.

Year 11 students will study, use and enjoy a course of Achievement Standards. This course focuses on students extending their skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Te Reo Māori to communicate and enhance student’s knowledge and achievements.
NCEA Level: 2 and Level: 3 are offered to students who have already gained Level 1 and Level: 2 TRM.

Year 12 students will study, use and enjoy a course of Achievement Standards. This course focuses on students extending their skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Te Reo Māori to communicate and enhance student’s knowledge and achievements.
NCEA Level: 3 is offered to students who have already gained Level: 2 TRM.

Year 13 students will study, use and enjoy a course of Achievement Standards. This course focuses on students extending their skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Te Reo Māori to communicate and enhance student’s knowledge and achievements.
Unit Standards Level: 4 are offered to students who have already gained Level: 3 NCEA TRM.
